Mr. Sandman – Where are you?

It is just after one am and I am exhausted but unable to sleep.   Having alot on my mind and experiencing chronic pain are not a good combination at this time of night!
I haven’t shared with most of you that I have chronic back and neck pain as well as generalized pain which is being diagnosed as possibly being fibromyalgia.  I had an MRI last week and it showed a couple of tears in discs but I am not debilitated by it very often so I don’t like to talk about it.  Well, truth be told, sometimes I just want to cry from the pain but don’t give into it.  I will probably be trying accupuncture for the lower back pain and, if that doesn’t work, something called Prolotherapy which I will not get into because it is not very pleasant.
Not knowing the source of pain is a practice in faith.  God knows what is causing it.  If He will be glorified by my being healed then I will be healed.  When I was at an evening of prayer with my women’s group last Friday night, they saw that I was in pain.  All I wanted was the babystep of being able to make it through that meeting.  They layed hands on me and prayed for my healing.  Almost immediately, the shooting pain in my hand and the swelling that was there subsided and my back felt great.  This lasted the entire evening and two of the women who had had headaches all day were healed of their pain, too!  The following day the pain was back but not as severely.  I need to have my prayer group pray for a bigger step next time!  Complete healing would be nice!
When we are called to Him, we are not promised a life without pain.  What we are promised is perfect love from our Creator and this love gives us the grace to deal with whatever comes our way if we ask for it.  Remember that grace is God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense.  He gives it to us as we need it.
People often misquote scripture and say that God will never give us more than we can bear.  He will give us more than we can bear so that we will lean on Him!  Only with Him can we go through life with hope and the ease of knowing that we are never alone!  Praise be to His holy name!
Maranatha, dear friends.  Maranatha.  gail

  1. I’m glad you shared that here.  It surely will spark more prayer support for whatever God’s will is in your life of pain.  I will be praying for you today very specifically as a night with little sleep will mean less pain coping ability as well.
Hang in there dear one.  You are not forgotten.  What these "light" and "momentary trouble acheive " for you is beautiful beyond comprehension.

  2. Thank you so much, Mamma.
I just want to make it clear that I did not write this to gain sympathy.  Just trying to be more open with you wonderful people who have invited me into your lives.  I look forward to visiting you all regularly and enjoy your company so much!
May your day be filled with His love, gail

  3. Even thoug Jesus said we will have trouble, it doesn’t mean we have to live there.  That’s why He told us to be of good cheer.  He overcame the world.  I like how the Amplified says it:  have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] John 16:33.
And I like how the Spitsbergen translation deals with this verse: Who Himself carried our sins in his own body upon the tree so that the sins being removed we might live righteously, by whose wound we were healed. 1 Peter 2:24.
the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5.
If He was punished and wounded for our peace, then we can assertain that we’ve no business being in pain or otherwise put up with the things that come to steal our peace.
Is it going to be a fight?  Absolutely!  The enemy that comes to kill, to steal, and to destroy is a rascal!  But he’s a defeated rascal!  And the only way we’re going to lose to the rascal is it we don’t fight.
I have things I’ve been fighting to be healed of for years.  Am I going to let the time it’s taken define the truth for me?  No way!  I’m going to keep on fighting!  And I’m going to be healed because I’ve just made up my mind I’m not going to let that wound that Jesus took for my healing be in vain!
So keep fighting!  And there is absolutely no shame in going to the ladies for prayer – and anyone else you feel led to go to.  That’s why we’re a body!  One part works in connection with the other.
