Brother Yun

I am going to put out a challenge.  I challenge each of you to read the book  The Heavenly Man the remarkable true story of Chinese Christian Brother Yun written by Brother Yun and Paul Hattaway and then be satisfied with your walk with God.

What the world does not realize is that China does not have freedom of religion.  If you are a "Christian," you are only allowed to worship in state churches.  These churches do not tell the whole story of the Bible, especially about salvation through Jesus Christ and the book of Revelation.  Those who choose to worship in home churches must do so in secret or chance being sent to jail or martyred.

Missionaries are not allowed in China.   Computer correspondence is censored.  Still, Christianity is growing in leaps and bounds!  It is the persecution that grows the Gospel of the good news of Jesus Christ!

I urge you all to read this remarkable true story.  Your spiritual eyes will be awakened and you will yearn for the faith that Chinese believers have.

Many blessings, gail

  1. Hi Gail, I have never heard of that book, but I will be sure to look out for it when I am at Barnes & Noble on Friday.  I have heard stories of the underground Christian movement in China, though.  Should be very interesting.  Have a blessed week.

  2. Merry Christmas, dear Gail,
Remind me never to go to China, okay? My ex husband was so busy smuggling bibles to other countries in the name of Jesus, he was no earthly good to our five children or me. Sensitive subject for me and one I can be a big mouth on but will keeo it shut because of the season. Am I being a good girl or what?
I hope you had a peaceful Christmas and that your pain has lessoned or is gone in your back, Gail.
Thank you for stopping by and saying hello. By the way I LOVE that picture of you. Very very good. Your spirit shines through.
    love, Julieann

  3. Hmmm sounds like a good book to add to my list.  I would like a week off just to read.  Anyway thanks for the well wishes.  I am already excited about Hopkins even though I haven’t been accepted yet.  I do know that I will be very disappointed if I am not accepted.  This is what I"ve been working for and dreaming about so passionately for so long.  You will be one of the first ones to know once I receive word.  I’m not sure how I will be able to keep quiet at work.  Have a great week!

  4. Hello Gail,

This is a very factual account. While I have not read the book, there are many Christians in China that are living in fear. Tienemen Square was but just a small example of people standing up for more feedoms. The Chinese put the aspect of democracy on it so they could deny that it was more about freedom of religion than anything. Cuba is another country with the same problem, the USSR was the same way and is still having difficulties with religious freedom. Countries who deny God are destined to fail eventually. The quickest way to find the book is to go through http://www.Amazon.com and do a search for the author or book title. It can be ordered over the internet safely with a credit card.

Thank you for your kind words about my writing. Five minutes was all it took to write. Christmas was good BUT not over yet. My oldest grandson had to spend Christmas with his bio-father so when he gets back, we will finish opening presents. Maybe this year it won’t take ten hours opening all the presents like it did one year:) That was for 7 people, one of whom was only 2 y/o at the time.

    Peace, Love, & Blessings.

  5. we all need reminding about our brothers & sisters who cannot not enjoy the freedom to worship God openly …and you are right in saying that ‘ persecution grows the Gospel .’
praying that we use our freedom to worship and share the Gospel as much as we are able during 2007 and that many will come to Christ because of our witness

trust you had a lovely day yesterday ,and that you were able to ‘relax and enjoy ‘ 🙂

  12. Thanks for the challenge. Although to be honest, I really could have used this information last week when I was out trying to find a nice gift for someone!! LOL.
Seriously, I’ll put it on my list after I read the book that I received; "90 Minutes in Heaven". I haven’t started it yet, I’m not ready to cry my eyes out.

  14. Hello Gail,

Hearts was just dropping me a friendly reminder since she knows I hate to miss wishing anyone – especially a Friend – a Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary. Hearts truly cares is why she does it.

Glad you had a great BD. Now have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

    Peace, Love, & Blessings.

  15. Thanks for the information. Sounds like a wonderful book. We take so much for granted, don’t we?

I answered your question about the holocaust in my comments section since someone else asked about it also. Funny you mentioned that (If we forget the past we are doomed to repeat it) because Josh asked me why they had so much of that stuff in the museum. He got the idea that they were glorifying Hitler and the Nazis by having so much stuff about them there. I explained to him that it was important to remember what happened for that very reason.. so that it never happens again.

  16. You know me ~smiles~.  I’ll never read it, but it looks like you really enjoyed it.  Sounds like a very humbling book ~smiles~.

    Love,
    Adam

  17. Hello Gail,
I wonder if the book comes out on CD? If it did you might could get Adam to listen to it since he won’t read it.
Have a HAPPY NEW YEARS!!! Please pray for those who won’t.
    Peace, Love, & Blessings.

  23. Hi mom,

well… it’s not only china, parts of russia (we had our missionary trip there last year… i didn’t go coz of work), africa (we are having our 3rd mission trip next week in africa nations) and so on… But things are changing a lot now days…

good hearts are spending millions to support these adventurers who hunt for lost souls and bring them back to lord.

well, still a lot of places are there for word to reach before his second coming. in fact, we are delaying his second coming. things will change….

take care mom… sending few snaps I took today at park here in your mail…

    Love, son

HAPPY NEW YEAR with Love of God and Peace of Holy Spirit. May god grant best of everything in your life.

  24. man sometimes religion causes more problems than it solves eh?
:o) smiles easy to give away they are free… :o) very contagious… :o) so pass one to anyone … :o) to people that you love… :o) and even to those you don’t… :o) in no time the whole world will be smiling :o)

  25. Hi Gail – I was going through friend’s of friend’s sites and foud your amazing place!!  I had to comment because I have a very close friend who’s daughter returned from a (covert) mission trip in China.  We were all warned to never speak directly of her mission work or God by name in any correspondence we sent.  But the Spirit of God is alive and working in that country.    I’m sure if I read the book I would fail miserably to measure up.

The photos of the little one are absolutely adorable!!

    Take Care,
    B

  28. Hello Gail,

The song at the bottom was placed in my head by God. It seemed that doing something about depression was the proper direction for the blog. Maybe someone who is depressed can hold onto those words and feel a little better. God meant for the blog to be. When a person has walked the walk with someone suffering from severe depression, they learn quickly what will and won’t work. Depression is so serious of a problem, I feel sorry for those who have it. Unforunately, some people do use depression as an excuse to abuse drugs and there are "doctors" who enable them.

May 2007 be a better year than 2006 was for You & Yours.

    Peace, Love, & Blessings.

  29. Only 48 more days!!!!!  Yikes.  I am not ready but at the same time I AM SO READY!!!  Can’t wait to hold that baby.  But I know once she is here I am going to want to be here all the time.  I bought them a web cam for christmas.  🙂

    Love you sis,

    ~Ronna

  31. Yeah, it’s still happening. Always on different spaces. I don’t think it’s as bad as it was though. When it happens, I just try to reload and hit the stop button before it can redirect. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Pretty crazy.

  32. I read that book a few years ago, and it stirred me more than any other book that isn’t the Bible!  In fact, Brother Yun is the one responsible for all of Pastor Mark’s trips to China (he’s been there 3 times now).  Brother Yun came and ministered to us back in 2003, and he and Pastor Mark have been very close ever since.  As it stands right now, Brother Yun is pretty much a dead man if he steps over the boundary line into China.  However, he eats, breathes, and sleeps the Heavenly People, the church that has been forced underground since this crackdown on Christianity in China.  Pastor Mark and Brother Yun made a covenant back during his visit with us in 2003 that they will preach a soul-winning crusade together in Tiananmen Square in Beijing.

I just want you to know that I love you so much and thank God for you!!!

    Love,
    Carol 🙂

  33. Have not read the book, but will keep an eye out for it.  Wonderful things are happening in China at this time.  Three of my good friends have been in country lately for short trips and two sons of some other dear friends are working as teachers in two different universities at this time.  One has been there for almost 2 years, while the other just started this summer.  They are being paid by the government to be there!  Can’t you just see the the Heavenly Father deciding to send these guys there, and for kicks, making the heathen government foot the bill.  Yea, boy!
