A Follow-up

Regarding negative thoughts:  An excellent book to help us get rid of them is Telling Yourself the Truth by William Backus and Marie Chapian.  I still battle with negative thoughts and that is why I wrote about them.  I have been blessed, however, with wonderful teachers who have pointed out what "stinkin’ thinking" is and have helped me find my truths.
I am going to take a cue from my friend Lisa in Canada and suggest that we all take a journey together this year.  A journey of focusing on truth and exposing lies that the enemy would have us believe.  The enemy (satan) hates us so much.  He wants us to hurt and be resentful.  Let’s not let him get his way.  We have a Father in heaven who loves us unconditionally.  Let’s listen to Him and focus on His word.  Talk to Him as you would a trusted friend because He will never fail you.  And, if you are very quiet and still, you will hear His voice.
Anyone who would like to start a conversation about this is welcome to leave their e-mail address with me and I will respond.
Here’s to the Journey!  gail

Actually, the colors are pretty in the photo but not accurate.  There was more blue than purple in the real deal.  It was still a pretty night, and the photos did capture that after all!
    Love ya!!!
    Carol 🙂

  2. Hi G!!!!
First of all, BIG HUGS (((((((((HUGGIES!!!))))))))))) for the new year.
The stinkin’ thinkin’… URGH. Yes, things certainly like to seep into my brain from every direction imaginable. I’m getting good at just letting it come in one ear and out the other… much like how I treat some people who try to talk to me.
Anyway… stubborness, set aside. Yes, the satan hates us… He not going to win either. He’s really quite weak, it’s just that he’s consistent and constant at times, which will add up eventually.
I would like to be in as well, however, I am still without a computer and hesitate to commit to it, when I can only come and go occasionally for now.
Maybe you can critique and publish some of the best items on your blog? So then we can read, and think, and compare. I dunno. Just some thoughts. I can hardly wait to get my life in order… meaning, buy a new computer and settle down for a long winter’s nap???
LOL. I"m rambling, babbling today. If it were summer, I would take a jog, or a long walk to burn off the excess nervous energy.
Love you, going now, babbling L 🙂

  3. well i don’t believe in god…or satan for that matter but i do think that we should all treat each other good…cause that is what we should do…hate is a strong and hurtful word…
:o) smiles are contagious…and free…as well as a great start to the new year…pass one to people that you love and those you don’t…and soon everyone will be smiling… :o)

  4. hey G ail, I’ve taken off the friend’s list to see if it willl load my page quickly and easily. I have probs getting into my own page.but today I got in. well…as for negative thoughts, we all battle it daily..esp with media showing beautiful gorgeous ladies! haha..
I’ve gotten quite far in my battle. I praise God for that. There was a time, I could not look anyone in the eye or talk to anyone..with His help I’ve come along way, and again, I thank God for that! for it is in Him, that I’ve found my identity. 🙂
    HUgs to you..

We have already talked about this some and you know I am interested! It’s a great topic! Will I need to buy the book or are you going to share what is necessary?

  6. Amen Gail!!! I was reminded of His love and provision today from my 10 year old.  (I wrote about it today on my site but essentially, it took only a few words, my daughter’s beautiful insight into a Savior that loves us so much, and a song that broght me to my knees!)  You are so right, the enemy is full of lies and half truths to try and keep us from the fullness and richness of our life in Christ.  You remind me once again that it is in the stillness that we hear His voice.

  7. HEY GAIL… it’s been ages. Just stopping in to let you know I’m back in the game.  Had some stuff going on but all’s good now and I’m excited to see what ’07 holds.  Sorry to have left so abrubtly and without explanation.
I know I won’t have time to go back and read everyone’s stuff but I loved what you wrote today.  I dont’ know why it’s so easy to believe the lies.  I mean the lies are full of negetive. I can’t. I won’t.  I’m not enough. I’m too much. etc. and the truth is so beautiful.  You’re enough in me.  You can. You will.  I’ll help you.  You’re just who you were meant to be and that’s enough and not too much.  Faced with the choice who in their right mind would choose the lies?  Yet we do.  Why?  I guess because as John Eldrige has said – we’re afraid it’s too good to be true.
    But it isnt’.

  8. hi mom,
you cant forget your son, same like you… well, I’m dealing with it. But I gotta tell ya, the best book I’ve ever found which helps a lot is the Bible itself.
Usually I just go through the verses and I pick up the revelations that I get. I dont try to memories verses (so I dont go debate either), so I cant give you quotes here about dealing with negative thoughts…
But I searched for the book you’ve quoted, frankly I am too lazy to read good books… I’ve got it, but the shipping cost is more than the book itself. Perhaps I can get it from India when someone comes here… definitely I gotta try that coz thats what mamma prescribed…
how are you mom? not seen much now days… whats the gift for me on 6th of January, on my birthday mom? just kidding, just remember me once in your prayer… that’ll give me everything… what else more than my mom’s love? well, i know I am getting a lot emotional… take care mom.
    Love  & Prayers, Son.

  9. Stinkin thinkin’…That Lams is preaching my sayings?
    You go Blondrilla!!!
Now I will go look into that book…Greg

  10. Lol, who needs to know how to do something with the ever-capable Lizzard around?  She put it on for me.  She instructed me on how to get it to where she could, then she did the rest.
    Love ya!!!
    Carol 🙂

  11. I am fortunate not to get frizzy, I have stick straight hair most of the time (it is deciding to get a slight wave as I get older…don’t know what that is about.)  So the humidity is ok with me because I actually have some body and no static.  lol
    Pop.  It’s called pop.

  12. I’m packed for the Journey and ready to go, and our Father in Heaven is leading the way. Sinking Thinking I havent heard that phrase for awile Gail and thanks for that.  I alway try to stay as positive as I can but there are times when the world becomes to much and I bend and break and break hard. I need to pick myself up beause I think soon my man is going to need me more than ever. I will be right beside him. He to is a Christian and has reminded me to pray . Thanks for this blog Gail its helped and you are a true firend and sister.
    Love and Hugs

  13. Hello Gail,
You’re idea is wonderful. Another good book is "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Rev. Norman Vincent Peale. He purhaps was the best authority on the subject of his time. I think it is still applicable today.
    Peace & Blessings.

  14. hi mom,
ha ha ha… you dont have to explain, i know my neice keeps you busy, i totally understand that… have great time.
    love & prayers, son

  15. Gail,I wanted to come by and tell you that I’m sorry I never have time to come comment on your blog and thank you for your uplifting comments on mine.  You’re a special person and I’m glad to know you.  Susan

  16. Fizzy aperitif?
I always end up with the  same old hair style it seems.  I like simple and quick.  In and out.  If it takes me more than 5 minutes, I won’t do it, lol.

  17. I’m totally like Ronna (comment below) with hair too. I just want to blow dry and go. I hate working on it. It seems the harder I try to style it, the worse it looks anyway. LOL At least I’m good with makeup! haha

  18. hey gail,
thanks for the comment.. I love your 100 list…. good job….. yes panic attacks are horrid and I have mine well under control.  Thank God for that.

  19. Ciao Gail,
Just thought that I would stop in this evening to wish you a wonderful weekend.
I love your blog entry, and I will see if I can find that book that you suggested. I think that it sounds wonderful, and I love books on Positive Thinking as well. They are the best.
    God Bless You

  20. Hello Gail,
HELP!!! There are too many M&M’s out there! They come in cocnut, cherry cordial, almonds, peanuts and a ton of other flavors. What’s a person supposed to do??!! I like the cherr cordial & cocnut. The rest just don’t seem to satisfy. Glad you enjoyed.
Stinking Thinking needs to go. Sometimes parents are at fault for the thoughts that occur. Fortunately it is just a few parents that do that. If a parent calls a chld by negative names or refers to the child in a negative manner, then stinking thinking happens – not always but too frequently. Time for some parents to get educated – especially those I’ve seen. They would yell at their children in place of tlaking to them. It doesn’t work.
    Peace & Blessings.

  21. I love what you are doing here, Gail.  You are challenging us all to face the truth and to really kick satan in the butt.  It’s not easy sometimes but the Lord is always with us, holding our hands and directing our steps.  I, too, have bought Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer and I use it as my daily devotional.  I just try to focus on the fact that his mercies are new every morning – everyday is a new day focus on the positive.

    Hey Gail
I just thought I would let you know my daughter is in Manhattan right now for vacation!!!
    Love ya,

  23. I think you may have won with that one.  I would have to break out the thesaurus to go any farther, lol.  I think the next time I go to tthe drive thru I am going to order an "effervescing quaff and see what they say, lol.

  24. Gail, go to my space, close your eyes, and sit back and listen to the song. I think it’s as much for you as it was for me. I don’t know why. I just had the feeling I should tell you to listen. 🙂 ~HUGS!

  25. Thanks for the positive comments my way.  I still just can’t believe my dream is becoming a reality.  I’ll be sure to post when I hear of the acceptance.  Hope you are having a great weekend!

My daughter is having a wonderful time. She called me again this morning! She said the weather was so gorgeous yesterday! She is loving every minute of it!!!

  27. I know, I was telling Allen on the way to Church this morning that if she goes into labor in two more weeks, they will just let her go.  TWO WEEKS!  YIKES!  That’s the weekend of the shower!  That would be exciting!  Oy vey.  Somewhere in the next 4 – 6 weeks we should have our little dumpling here!

  28. hope you did have a good day 🙂
I had Fergus again today while they finished moving everything ,so am tired & ready for my comfy bed …
hugs & blessings  for you Gail & for Isabella too

  29. Hello Gail,
My apologies, my mistake, my BAD!!! It is actually Hershey’s kisses that has all the multi-flavors. I prefer Hershey Kisses ove M&M’s anyway – that way the chocolate hits quicker. Thye’re already everywhere. I have a hard time saying no to the cherry cordial Hershey Kisses. My wife has an even harder time about it – just like I did the chocolate chip cookies (homemade, special delivery) when I was in Panama.
    Peace, Love, & Blessings.

  30. Seahawks??? You live on the East Coast?
I don’t mind the Seattle team. I guess I am not a Holmgren fan and his coaching style?
    Have a wonderful weekend…Greg

    Ah, Steve Largent,
My Aunt and Uncle are personal friends with Mr. Largent.
They sold there home and horse ranch to him, north of Seattle, when he played the Seahawks.
He would take their boy’s to football practices.
He is a class act who is now my neighbor in Oklahoma.
    See ya, Greg

  32. Via Greg I’ve found many wonderful and spiritual people on Spaces.  Greg is a man of few words, but it is crystal clear that he embraces life and his love for our heavenly Father.  Thank you for the visit G, and I do hope that we may share visits of mutual interests in the future.  My e-mail is titus_213@hotmail.com and to discuss our Savior and all that He has provided us is a topic of which I shall never tire.  We constantly fight Satan…his power of deception…his voice telling us "Go on and do this thing you think is wrong."  "Look, he says…everyone else is too busy to notice and besides, you just want to fit in don’t you?"
Many times I want to pray for the prince of this world, but I know his fate is sealed.  The negative thoughts you mentioned are the serpent at his best.  For me, I just tell him I know he won’t leave me alone, but no matter how often he comes to visit, or how many times he tempts me, I know his fate, and I tell him out loud how much I pity him.
God will guide you on your journey as He guides all willing to follow the example and memory of Jesus Christ.  Stay the course…expect many trials and tribulations…ridicule, and temptation, but take that deep soothing breath and remember the cross.  All it takes for evil to prevail is for a few good men and women to stay seated.  Let us unite in standing in peaceful and prayerful moments of unity and the promises of THE LIGHT that guides us.  Love many..be loved be many sweet woman.  You have a new brother today.
    J. Wesley

  33. The J is for John (my given first name), the Wesley & Leigh are family names of two relatives who greatly influenced me.  As for the comment, I’m not quite sure to which comment you refer, but I’ll gladly explain if I have confused you.  By the way, I don’t mind questions at all.  You have every right to ask questions, especially in new on-line friendships.  Not only do I understand, I totally respect you for asking.
    John (J. Wesley)

  34. Hi Gail.
I always love when You visit. Thanks for the reminder to keep looking up my dear friend. for he is great than I. or we. 🙂

  35. We can never have the mind of Christ until we know what is on Christ’s mind.
All of God’s ways toward/with us work on the basis of substitution.
    Think about it.

    g. – where you be?
gosh I sound like a thug! lol
seriously though, I haven’t seen you on messenger so I am checking up on ya!

  37. Hey Gail still can’t access my space huh? I can’t directly either, it boots me out. but I can get to it, via messenger..if I click on the contact card, and then click on the entry.
I wrote Spaces, and tehy told me to clear history, delete cookies etc etc etc..but still no good. oh well…I am gettingf rustrated…about time to give up. Perhaps one or two more entries, and that’s it.
How have things been>? Take good care and God bless!
