What a full life you lead, Gail! What blessings! I’m glad that you remain positive despite the FM and the other "niggling" problems; my days are always brighter because of you.

I’m heading over to the video that you referenced, and can’t wait to see what’s there…

Glad Bells made it through the "pokes," as we used to call them. I’ll never forget the time #1 had his updates at…what is it? 18 months or so?… and I sat with him on my lap, held his arms and watched as he got the pokes in his thighs. (Do they do that any more? That’s where my kids always got them.) Anyway, after they shot him, he turned around and looked at me with this very surprised look on his face, and said, "Well, ouch!"

    I still laugh at that.

I also wanted to add that about three years before Horace Spofford’s four daughters drowned in that ship accident, his only son had died in a fire. So he’d lost even more children than most people realize — as if four isn’t enough…

Anyway, glad life is treating you with a semi-gentle hand. Thanks for your concerns the past month.

    Much love,
    k

  2. Hello Gail,

My computer is back up & running – FINALLY! When a computer company releases a new version of a program, all old versions are ignored so that people will have to buy the NEW & IMPROVED product – sometimes it is nothing more than a color change. My computer crashed and it took a while to get it back up and running. I’m back now – thanks to my son-in-law.

Tuesday I had three teeth pulled – that was the hardware that I lost. Still a little hard to eat but am feeling much better after getting th e teeth out. Now for the fake hardware which will not be made of wood as Gearge Washington’s dentures were rumored to be made out of. Just a minor annoyance for me.

Loved the video. I kept expecting the guy too either do the "River Dance" or the "Stomp." At the very least he could have caught one of the balls in his mouth and made it exciting like the "Yoyo Man" always did on the "Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour Show."

I gave up on football a long time ago. It has gotten to the point where a contract is meaningless, a man’s word is worthless and there is no loyalty anywhere in sports from the players, coaches, or owners.

I have heard that Capn Q & some others got shut down. Unfortunately there are others already taking their place creating problems. An absolute moron tried to impersonate me with a nasty comment while my computer was down. They will learn the hard way not to mess with my Friends.

    Peace & Blessings.

  3. Ah thank you.  I had forgotten those essential things, lol.  Now if she can just hold on until Sunday, we will be on our way by car!

  4. Thanks for sharing that incredible video- juggling is a talent I’ve always admired, but could never master 🙂
We are loving the bed- as are Sam & the cats when we’re at work 😛 Only problem is Poppy thinks there is a mouse under the bed when we adjust it- she stands on point, staring at the headboard until we chase her off 😉
Yep- Sam’s a good looking guy (takes after his Dad) the best part is he’s just as beautiful on the inside- not that I’m biased or anything!

  7. Hey Gail.. Just dropping by to say Hi! I would check out the video but my dial up is sooooo slow here at home and I haven’t had time for blog visiting at work lately.  Hope all is well with you and thanks for always leaving your sweet comments..

  9. Hello Gail,
I was afraid that maybe I had gone too technical on my site for people. My mind works in weird ways. I would appreciate what the biggest problems about my site are for you. Not everyone has the experience with computers and technical items that I have. I want my site to be friendly for everyone not just a few, except for the freaks out there.
The teeth were a small thing, it was over in less than 20 minutes including the deadening process. They popped out like pimples – OOPS! too graphic. One person I know had 13 teeth done at one time. Here I was talking about loosing teeth when another person lost a family member to cancer. Very selfish of me talking that way. Especially with all that you are going through with your pain. Fie on me.
Look up Coreopsis Grandiflora. It is a beautiful yellow flower that I ran across in a magazine. Sometimes junk mail has its benefits.
    Peace & Blessings.

  10. Thanks for stopping by Gail.  I took the liberty of looking at your previous entry and saw that you are having quite a time with the little one.  As an uncle with no children of my own, I enjoy having my nephew and niece around whenever I get the opportunity.  Sometimes I have been for days at a time.  The only great thing about being an uncle is that I can send them home when I get tired.  :-)Billy

  11. Thanks for stopping by G.Yes, I use the voice-activated software, but is not limited to just highlighting and editing my text.  I am basically able to talk in a normal fashion and that dictates what I am saying.  Of course, it does have limitations, however, it is leaps and bounds above what I started with.
When I first got going on voice activation back in 1996, my that seems like yesterday, I was dictating like this: I (pause) wanted (pause) to (pause) go (pause) to (pause) the (pause) etc.
You get the idea, right?  Hell, dictating that was pretty difficult because the program continued to mess up the word pause.
BTW, I updated my profile.  I live in Tampa.  I thought I had it in my profile, unfortunately I didn’t have much of anything.Don’t hesitate to ask questions, that is how I am able to let people become aware of things.Billy

  14. Hi!  Just hitched a ride off another blog and thought I would say hi.

The guy on the video could totally have been on America’s Got Talent.  Pretty amazing stuff.

I was reading your previous entry and I can totally sympathize.  In 1/2 hour my little girl is going to be 1 year old.  She is the most wonderfully beautiful thing that has ever happened to me and I’m so thankful that God chose me to be her mom.  Children are such a gift from Him.

    Take care,
    Amy

  17.
I just saw Gale Tuesday, and we had a great visit. He came home shortly before Thanksgiving (after five months in the hospital), and has been back for two additional surgeries.

He’s having the most trouble with his hip; the surgeons finally just fused it before Christmas. This means that he’ll never sit at a 90-degree angle, and will have a sort of stiff, jerky gait, but he’s just grateful that he’ll be able to walk. He’s not to put any weight at all on his right side until April, I believe.

He still uses a wheelchair to get around. His vision remains blurred (as a result of the crushing facial injuries), so the doctors don’t want him to use crutches.

His internal injuries have healed nicely, but he’ll always be susceptible to bladder infections (from the torn bladder). His shoulder and arm have also healed well.

I’m really grateful that you remember him (for obvious reasons, but still!); he and his family are now facing the long, forgettable battles that accompany traumatic injuries — and people have gone on with their lives. Except, of course, for the people who have found it necessary to complain about how Gale and his family used the money that was raised through some benefits that were held for them.

They bought a new (used) Chevy Tahoe, because they have an incredible amount of equipment that they have to take wherever they go: Gale’s wheelchair; a commode; a set of crutches; a bag of medication, etc.

I told him someone made an off-hand remark to me about it, and here’s what I said:

"Oh? Well, why don’t you get crushed — nearly to death — while volunteering to help others. That way, you can put a value on how much your health is worth; maybe suggest how much money should be donated. Then, you can let other people tell you how to spend it! Well? Whaddya say?"

The woman was all, "Well, I didn’t mean it that way…"

And I said, "Yes you did. You did mean it, and it was mean. Don’t ever talk about it around me again."

    Gale laughed and laughed.

He’s a great man, with incredible strength and perserverance.

    Thanks for asking about him.

  18. Yes, that was amazing, but the delight you take in your family, and the integrity in which you lead your life are by far the most amazing to me.  I have the utmost respect for you.
