Visit and Storm

A huge THANK YOU!  to all who gave advice on my girl’s dilemma.  She read them all.  We will see what this morning brings.
Well, Lolls and her boy made it here around five o’clock Saturday evening and we had a great visit.  We had dinner at my house (pot roast, layered mashed potatoes and cheese, salad and broccoli with olive oil and garlic) and turned in early.  In the morning, we went to church, where Lolls’ beautiful singing voice took my breath away, and then to brunch at The Cafe before she and her guy left for the next leg of her trip.  The visit was way too short  and we look forward to the next one.
The nor’easter is still wreaking havoc with this part of the US of A  .  Our sump pump has been running nearly constantly but we still have water in the basement.  We are so thankful because it could have been so much worse.    Our waterway is receding a bit and, despite a delayed opening, school is in session.  There are others, though, who are mourning deaths related to the storm.  Some are homeless due to flooding reaching as high as the second story of their homes.  Please remember them in your prayers.
My f-i-l’s 91st birthday is next month and my in-laws’ 62nd anniversary is this month.  I just finished sending e-mails to the Whitehouse to request that cards be sent to them.  Cards can be sent for births, birthdays for those age 80 or over and weddings anniversaries of 50 years or longer.  What a neat idea, eh?
Here’s hoping that you all have a week filled with blessings.  gail

And, yes, the statues are definitely amazing!!!

  6. All I know is that I don’t generally have any pain in my body and this was PAIN.  My doctor said to stay off the Lipitor for 2 weeks and we will try Crestor.  Apparently this same thing happened to my uncle on this med.  My mom can’t take it either for GI reasons.  I think the pain is pretty distinct.  ELEPHANTS WALKING ON YOUR LEGS.  Not so nice.   Felt like my joints were being ripped out.  Ick.

  8. Hi Gail, sorry I haven’t been around in a while.  Long story………….How’s your daughter doing?  What did she decide to do?  I made me sad reading your previous entry because I just don’t understand why some people are so unkind.  It just baffles me, and I will definitely keep your daughter in my prayers.  I am glad you had a good visit with Lolls……..the food sounds delightful!
How did you make out in the storm?  My brother’s basement was flooded as well, but they were able to get the pump working very well and it didn’t last too long.  They are all okay, though.  Take care and we will chat soon……..will tell you more then.

Go read my manna for today… It might just be what you need to hear today… I know it was what i needed to hear today!!!

  10. I smile everytime I come to your page because of that beautiful smiling granddaughter of yours Gail… You are so blessed…
Funny you should mention that about Elvis because I wanted to say that I wanted to meet my celebrity crush but said Elvis instead.  and he played Elvis in a movie a couple of years ago too.
Now, I’m off to catch up here..

  11. Philippians 4 (New International Version) 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
This was today’s manna…. I didn’t get it up until late in the day so I’m not sure if you saw this correct entry… Anyways, it really resonated with me today, and after reading your last comment to me I thought it might resonate (sp?) with you as well.
    Still praying for you Sister!
    Love ya,

  12. Glad to read that you all are staying above water, so to speak, & were able to have a nice- albeit short- visit with Lollie.
The White House cards are such a wonderful idea- I’m planning on getting a couple of those for myself someday 🙂

  13. Oh dear… I agree about the nanny position and your not watching girls d in that case.. don’t blame you for that one. Have a great week as well. -S-

  14. Hi Gail –  62 years — Holy Cow. That’s just great.
    Thanks for the birthday wishes.
I think whatever decision your girl makes, as long as she leaves where she is. No one deserves to be treated that way, ever.  Tell her I said to remember – karma.  It always comes back.
We are having the same — flooding.  Luckily I am not in an area where that is (unless you cound the end of my driveway).  I really need to get Kev to fix that.  The weekend looks great for Upstate NY though.  Hope it does for you also.

  15. Hi Gail,  I think we had more wind than rain.  A lot of trees blown over and shingles off roofs.  I live less than a mile from the river and we didn’t really have any flooding.  Hope you have a good rest of the week!

  16. Thanks for stopping by.  Don’t worry, I am fine.  I am.  I just got a little crazy in me and think it is over.  I don’t have any plans for the weekend, but to stay home, maybe go to the show with the family….but no BARS!  I can’t handle another weekend with a headache and upset stomach!!
B.j. and I are doing so much better.  I am a rebel and he is calm.  Thanks for keeping tabs on me.

  17. G., thank you for your very sweet comment…it meant so much to me-more than you could ever know!!!  I had stopped by earlier but didn’t leave a comment because many of the suggestions had already been given…I hope she comes through this OK, I know it must be a comfort to her to know your loving support.  I have posted a video on soapbox trying to capture the end of the  nor’easter here (not everyone can view the video though) but I’ll tell you, it was quite a bit of wind without being a Hurricane…Great idea about the cards from the White House…I will definately try this!Wishing your week is blessed also…Sheila

  18. Hi Gail!!  Oh I remember well the times my boys "played" their guitarts with their amps plugged in!  Yep, pretty much punishment for our ears.  In any event, wishing you all the luck and patience needed for teens!  Gotta love them.
I’m glad you had a nice visit with your friend – that dinner you prepared sounds wonderful!!!
I hope you stay dry and despite the water in your basement it sounds like you weathered the storm.  Thank you Jesus!
Take care and enjoy your week.  Also still praying for The Girl and her dilema.

  19. Oh dear, I have no idea. That’s a tricky one for sure, I guess it’s good that you have time before she actually gets the job to consider it. Good luck, have a great Thursday.

  20. Haha, I said have a great Thursday… well, I hope you do… but not before you have a great Wednesday… lol!
