Thursday Again????

It is so hard to believe it is Thursday again!  Weeks go by so swiftly and the older I get the faster they go by.  Hardly seems fair, eh?
On Thursdays, I usually go to Amy’s site to steal her Thursday Thirteen ideas.  However, this week she listed the rules concerning the American flag and I would encourage my fellow Americans, and even my non-American friends, to visit her site.
Now to come up with my own list, hmmmm…..not feeling very creative…okay….here goes –

Thirteen Ways to Cope with Problematic (and not so problematic) Children:
1  – prayer, lots of it
2  – chocolate, dark, lots of it
3  – ice cream with chocolate sauce or syrup
4  – talk it over with a bff (best friend forever)
 5  – chocolate, dark
 6  – more prayer
7  – exercise – walk to the chocolate store
8  – read a good book e.g., the Bible, Chocolate by Nick Malgieri…
9  – listen to and sing along with spiritual songs such as Amazing Grace and The Candy Man Can
10 – yet more prayer
11 – be consistent in disciplining them
12 – beat husband into submission when he thwarts your attempts to be consistent
13 – write a book on the healing properties of chocolate, dark.
I hope that my wisdom helps those of you who are struggling with your wayward children.  All are tried and true methods which I have learned through trial and error.  May my advice help to keep you from the trials I have suffered through.
Be well, gail

    Hi Gail,
I think singing definitely is a help for any problem.  Chocolate, too.  Thanks for the visit.  You have a nice place here.  The 100 List is a good idea.  You know, I think it would be pretty easy for MSN to make it so we could order lists alphanumerically.  They should.  Make it possible to maintain sequence when editing.  Choose to put the add first, not last, etc.  I’ve suggested this on their request feature page several times.  You signed with your name but should I call you "g" instead?

  2. Oh Baby Jo would love all these things with chocolate. Only with her it’d have to be a variety of all sorts of chocolate. hhahaha….and then it’d be mama who’d be paying HEAVY bills for all the cavaties! haha…
Did you know, Nel had 7 whopping cavities? it cost a BOMB to pay for them to be fixed! believe  me, it burned a BIG HOLE in my pockets! dentist asked me "have you been giving your child sweets and chocolates everyday?"
    I just blushed. hahaha…
Hey, hope you have a blessed weekend!
    God bless and hugs…

  3. great advice g..and the chocolate is very very important …lol though when I start eating it I have to eat it all !
just picked up my mail for the last few days ,trust things are working out ….you best get some good reading lined up and lots of chocolate ,you know that there are lots of people praying and that we are there for you ….I’m sure that we all  have 24 hour prayer cover  with all the different time zones 🙂
peace be with you in all you do this weekend

I’ll respectfully disagree with the dark chocolate; but will substitute it with one of my own vices: a bag of potato chips.
Keep in mind that you can’t change ANYone’s behavior, you can only change how you react to it. Keep a level head, stand firm in your beliefs, and keep your voice down.
It may have taken me TWO troubled kids to figure it out, but I’m getting there. Sons 3 and 4 are better for it, and so am I.
    Hang in there!

  5. I agree with you, my days, months and years are so much shorter as I get older.  Having a child only makes me see it more everyday.
What a great list!  I particularly empathize with the chocolate.  It is my friend in so many ways.  And, not my friend in so many other ways.  LOL!
I hope you have a terrific weekend!

  6. Gail, you never cease to amuse.  Got to love your sense of humor, and I suspect there is a great deal of honor to go along with it.  Yummy…..I do love dark chocolate, and will probably hyperventilate if I’m told one more time that chocolate is for women!!  I salute you dear woman.

  7. I like this list! But you forgot beating the kids into submission after the husband..or him doing it! lol All we can do is pray and eat chocolate!!

  8. Just to show you how much of a man I am, for some reason I thought you were plying the children with chocolate.  I thought to myself, "isn’t that counterproductive?"  It wasn’t until I read the comments that I understood the chocolate was for you.  Dah!  Sometimes I’m glad there’s no one here to hound me on the head and say, "McFly, is there anyone home?"Billy

  9. LOL. Good list!
Fortunately, I don’t have to deal with that anymore! YAY… Chocolate is good any time of day or night!
    Thanks for the great chat.
    Have a wonderful weekend too.
    Love, Lori

  10. Dear GYou are right about the my turn part, and I am finding "it’s time to go out for dinner" more often than before.  And absolutely spot on as far as the dark chocolate bit.  Thanks for coming by G, it really amazes me that it takes effort to put our foot down and say "it really is my turn", when it should be an automatic response.  hugs, hugs,Sheilaso glad the red x’s are gone

  11. Hello Gail.
Thought I’d pop in to say hello.  I like your list and it is so true.  Too bad raising kids didn’t come with a handbook.

  12. I think you’d be a perfect Buttercup!! You’re our first! Everyone else has been someone else… Hope your weekend is wonderful.

  13. Ciao G,
Love your list… ha ha ha, I love chocolate too, but try not to eat too much of it.
Wishing you a great week in the Lord…
    May God Bless You

  17. Mmmmmmm, chocolate… Gail, what a great list. And…. back to the chocolate… mmmmm… lol! Have a great week. -S-

  18. Hey 🙂
I love how chocolate was mentioned in your list a few times.
Chocolate for me tends to work wonders whenever something is going wrong or anything else like that. 🙂
Hope you had a great weekend. 🙂 *Hugs*

  19. And there’s my dad’s method:
    *deep sigh*
    *shake head back and forth*
say "I am so disappointed in your behavior"
    AACK!!  Anything but that!

  20. When I eventually have some wayward kids, I’ll remember dark chocolate as the way to set them straight. 😉

  21. Gail,
I am sitting here laughing, picturing you with red x’s on your eyes, like in a cartoon.  Do come by and see if they are worked out, I have a picture of the bucket hat.  And I am just now seeing for the first time, your new addition, congratulations, I can see the blessings just continue to keep coming to g’S space!
