What a Week

Haven’t been around much for a number of reasons the most valid being my father-in-law’s pneumonia.  He is 92 and has COPD and CHF  (lungs and heart aren’t doing all that great).  Himself and I go to visit or run errands as much as we can.  Most importantly, we bring Isabella to visit.  She is the joy of their lives, too!

How much money do you plan to spend this upcoming holiday season?
Very little.  I layed down the law years ago about over spending and haven’t wavered.  My mom sent us all an e-mail telling us to buy them absolutely nothing.  They don’t need a thing.  Gotta love them!

Soup
What was the last television show you watched, and was it good?
Hmm…I was watching a very old Red Skelton movie at my in-laws’ and gemstv.  The movie was eh.

Salad
If you had to paint the walls of your living room tomorrow, what color would you choose?

This is a dilemma as it took me three years to figure out the color on the wall now.  (No, I can’t describe it because it is so unusual.  Green but it changes with the light of day.)  I am considering a caramel color, though.

Main Course
Name something clever or practical you have thought of that should be invented, but hasn’t yet.

I haven’t thought of it, yet!

List 3 things you would like to receive as gifts this upcoming holiday season.

1 – A donation to a crisis pregnancy center which needs more support.

2 – A donation to missionaries I know who need more support.

3 – A donation to one of our least recognized charities, The Salvation Army, which is one of the first groups at any disaster but rarely mentioned on the news.

For those of you who pray please remember my friend, Nancy, who has been diagnosed this week with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  This is a very bad lymphoma.  Very bad.  Nancy is like The Salvation Army; first there to help.  I love her dearly.

I hope you all experience blessings this weekend.  gail

Probably more than I should … it is hard not to go overboard for the nieces and nephews especially when I am not having Christmas with them this year.

Boston Legal – I am part way through watching Season 2 on DVD

Considering everything IN the living room is brown tones, it would have to be some sort of beige-y thing

1 – Time with my family and friends
2 – An “in person” hug from a special friend that I have not seen in a while
3 – A picture of my friend Tina’s face the first time she gets to hold the baby girl she is adopting

  2. Hello my friend! Thanks for the birthday wishes. Sorry I haven’t been by here very often. I have not been doing a very good job blogging lately. I seem to be behind on just about everything. I hope your FIL is feeling better soon.

My kids always had big a big Christmas because we bought them so little during the year.  Now that they are grown I give each an equal amount of gift certificate to the local mall and a few gifts for under the tree – usually necessities.  And the day after Christmas this year I plan for us to all go to the mall for breakfast and shopping – spending their present of course.

I was half watching Forensic files – (hubby turned it on), but I was reading so only bits got through.

SaladIf you had to paint the walls of your living room tomorrow, what color would you choose?   I stick with neutrals because I like to redecorate often — pillows, curtains and such and I simply can’t paint the walls each time.  Hmmmmmm carmel color sounds good.
Main CourseName something clever or practical you have thought of that should be invented, but hasn’t yet.  A laundry folding machine.  Stick the ihn a batch of t-shirts, press the t-shirt button and they are folded for you.  Same with a pants button, sock botton (it even matches them) and underwear button.  Yeah – I know, I’m dreamin huh?

1 – Shonowee School for their stroller fund.  (thanks for the idea G.J.)
    2 – Adobe Photo Shop
3 – A professional picture of all four of my children.  A large one for the wall above my desk.
Ok – now I’m off to get some exercise by raking some leaves….have a nice weekend.

  4. I meant to say Gail — I just came from g.j. site and I’m a little slow this morning.  Honest – I do know where I am.  I realized it when I came back to tell you I’m wishing the best for your father in law.  How wonderful you take Isabella – I know that is a joy to them.

  5. Hi Gail,  Praying for your father-in-law and friend, Nancy.

Are you getting snow up there yet?  Snow flurries yesterday morning here but turned into showers later in the day.

Very little.  I make chocolate covered peanut butter balls every year and they are a hit as everyone requests them every year.  They aren’t buckeyes because they are crispy….I put crispy rice cereal in them.  And I send Christmas letters to about 50 annually to those who live out of state.  Everyone that receives them just loves them.  And honestly I really would rather give than receive.  I just hate it when people think they have to give me something.  I"m at a point in my life that if I really want something, I will go get it for myself.  There is very little that I want or need.  The Lord has provided me with so much.

SoupWhat was the last television show you watched, and was it good?
I was watching the Comedy Channel.  I couldn’t even tell you what the name of the show was.  It gets me through after a rough Friday.  But I fell asleep.  By the time Friday comes, I’m exhausted.

I haven’t thought of it, yet!  (Right there with you.  My mind is so filled with other things to think of something creative and innovative.)

    1 – Nothing
2 – Nothing-I really want for very little.
    3 – Nothing-Actually a nice, Christian man would be nice.  : )
Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend, Gail!

  6. Yeah, it seems like the closer it gets to Christmas the more suffering and sickness there is, kind of ironic.  Well I hope it works out as God will it and any mourning to be at God’s speed.  Pneumonia is probably the largest killer of elderly people.  It sounds like he has had a very long and fullfilling life ~smiles~.  I hope he gets to stick around for another decade!

As little as possible, except for the kids ~smiles~.  I don’t need or want anything, unless someone can cause world peace ~smiles~.

I come up with cool stuff all the time and think about calling invention help, but for the life of me I can’t think of a single one right now ~chuckles~
