The Beginning of a New Week

Hope you all are having a fine beginning to your week.  Having Isabella here always helps to brighten our day – even when it is gray and wet outside like today.

On Thanksgiving God gave us safe travel, good food and, for most of us, good health.  My daughter had a touch of food poisoning so we took Isabella for the afternoon.  Boy, did I get a work out at my sister-in-law’s house running after her!  Next time she stays with her mom.

Did you know that your state congressperson can help you out with many things?  As The Girl has no health insurance, she applied for state assisted benefits (not medicaid) a couple of months ago.  Isabella’s lips have been turning blue on occasion and she needs a cardiac work-up.  I visited my local congressman’s office this moring and they have already contaced the state agency which deals with this!  Just know that being a voter helps.  They can check to see if you vote but not who you voted for (thankfully as I didn’t vote for this person!).

Some fun Monday Monday questions:

Which personality trait has gotten you into the most trouble?  "Foot in mouth" disease.  I have a tendency to speak without thinking.  However, I have worked on this negative trait and am much, much better.

If you had to gain 10 pounds what would you eat to gain the weight?  I’ve just taken off about ten pounds!  I have been craving a bowl of pasta.  And carrot cake.  And, and so many things!  However, I am bound and determined to drop forty pounds!

How is your private self different from your public self?   Hmmm…I was once told I am the same person around everyone.  I will answer by telling you my thoughts are much more organized than my home is.  When I was in school and had to write a paper, I would have it all worked out in my head before I typed it up.

Talk to me!  Let’s warm up for our blogging week with some answers.

Have a great one, gail

  1. You wrote: "…I was once told I am the same person around everyone…."  Well… sometimes that works against me….

The other day, my fiance and I stopped to grab a cup o’ java and I had been chatting away in a Scottish brogue (just because I can, and because it makes Shelley laugh).  I didn’t realize it, but when I placed my order I did so with a bit of a Scottish lilt.  The young lady behind the counder inquired, "Where are you from?"  I looked a little sheepish, and replied, "Carlisle" (down the road).  Apparently, she didn’t believe me, because she proceeded to inform me that her family was from Scotland, and she had spent some time in Inverness.

"No, really," I insisted.  I’m not from Scotland.  "Okay, ‘Carlisle’, here’s your coffee…" she drew out, dripping with unbelief.

I really have to stop being Scottish (private self) around anyone but Shelley.

    Does that count?

  2. 1.    Trait: Will "debate" on something I believe.  And since I’m right, you know what that makes your opinion!  I don’t normally have a problem with finding my foot in my mouth; my problem is I tend to take other people’s feet and stick them in their owner’s mouth (and I almost always smile nicely when doing so)!
    2. Is cheesecake an acceptable answer?
    3. Privately – I tend to be more focused on spiritual pursuits.  Last week, as we discussed the relationship between a husband and wife (two of our friends), I reminded Kay that most people do not live like we live.  A large amount of our time together revolves around the spiritual.

  3. Gail I need to tell you that I think it is awesome the way you spend time with Isabella!

Which personality trait has gotten you into the most trouble? I must go with the famous "Foot in mouth" disease as I also have a tendency to speak without thinking.

If you had to gain 10 pounds what would you eat to gain the weight? If I had to GAIN weight – wow, where do I sign up for THAT? I could put on 10 pounds pretty quick living on potato chips and chocolate bars!
How is your private self different from your public self? My public self is much tougher or at least I project a hard shell. My private self is actually very soft hearted.

  4. That’s interesting about Isabella.  Please let us know what she finds out.  I’m leaning towards asthma versus cardiac.  It’s so common in children nowadays and some outgrow it.  I hope she is able to get a consult soon.

My Smartassness.  There’s a fine line between smartassness and being quick-witted.  I"m both.

If you had to gain 10 pounds what would you eat to gain the weight?  Anything chocolate of course! How is your private self different from your public self?   I guess I’m much more reserved in public and sometimes could be hard to get to know.  It’s a matter of building trust.

Hey Gail, let me know if you have further info as to why Bell’s lips turn blue sometimes.
    Praying it is nothing serious.

USed to be my spark of cheekiness…leading to pranks…. hahaha… but that has pretty much subsided after marriage. :)If you had to gain 10 pounds what would you eat to gain the weight?
I don’t want to gain 10 pounds!! shivers…..How is your private self different from your public self?
I’m much more relaxed when home with kids. 🙂

okie doke, hope you have a lovely week. Gonna join facebook?

  6. Yeah, Bill thinks I’m a pretty cool chick. He saw my bb ring on the webcam the night I got it done and thought it was totally hot. hehe

  7. Which personality trait has gotten you into the most trouble?   My intelligence…you know some people are just too damn smart for their own good ~grins~.  It brings with it sarcasm, cynicism and a general disdain for humanity itself ~smiles~.

If you had to gain 10 pounds what would you eat to gain the weight?  Ice cream and Little Debbie’s Hoho’s.  However, I am still losing weight and wouldn’t want to gain.  Congrats on your weight loss ~cheers~.  The older we get the harder it is!

How is your private self different from your public self?  It’s not.  What you see is what you get.  I pride myself on being blatantly frank with myself to keep me from BS’ing myself on a regular basis.  Am I impervious?  No, but I am aware! ~smiles~.

You take care of that little cutie!  Hi Izzy! ~smiles~

    Love,
    Adam

  8. Interesting to know that about local congressmen – glad to know they can be of assistance.  That’s good that they can’t tell if you voted for anyone in particular!  🙂

If I could eat anything to gain 10 pounds (not that I don’t gain any by just smelling food :-0)
I would eat sugar cookies and apple fritters.  Yum.

    Wishing you a wonderful week.
    Take care,
    B

  9. Hello Gail,

Thank you for the Thanksgiving wishes. I had a great Thanksgiving and hope you did too.

I hope they find out it is nothing serious about Isabelle’s lips turning blue.

    Peace & Blessings.
