“And Away We Go”

Do you remember Jackie Gleason’s variety show?  He would say, "And away we go," and make a "shuffle off to Buffalo" move.  If you don’t know what that is, well, all I can tell you is it is a tap dance sequence.  Why did I mention this?  Other than to walk down memory lane, no particular reason at all!  Guess I felt I had to explain the title of this entry.
How about those Giants?  I am a tried and true Seattle Seahawks fan but I did my crying last week and moved on.  Did you ever think Eli would be the last Manning standing?  I know.  All the sportscasters are saying that.  Still, good job, Eli.  It was a very exciting game.  The forecast for Sunday at Lambeau Field in Green Bay is eleven degrees F.  The NY/NJ part of the Great Atlantic Northeast hasn’t been all that cold so I hope the boys get there early enough to get used to the frigid temps.
Our weekend was filled with football.  Then more football.  Oh, and in between the games, whilst we slept, the boiler broke and it was a bit cold here.  I missed church waiting for the utility company to come out.  The usual recording telling us he would be here between the time of the call and four o’clock.  I believe it was around three when he showed up.  It was good to see him.
As is her custom, Lisa at www.manicmonday.com has given us another meme.  I have, however, used an old one because I liked the questions better.  Thank you, Lisa!

What’s the longest you’ve ever waited in line?  When I was in college, I had to go to in-person registration every single semester.  Yes, I applied by mail but they messed up my schedule each and every time.  The line was always very, very long.  It was best to bring a box lunch with you as it took hours.  The second longest might have been the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland.

It’s been said that, "The best things in life are free." Do you think this is true? Why or why not?  Absolutely.  One can’t put a price on the joy I receive from my Isabella.  More importantly, the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ is a life saver.

If you could go back in time and re-live one day in your life, which day would you choose and why?  None.  It was hard enough getting here from there.

I hope and pray you have a wonderful, healthy week.  Blessings to you and yours, g

I like your answers, Gail. I can think of some long traffic jams I was in but don’t particularily recall waiting in any long lines. Since love is free I would definitely agree with your answer to the second question. I thrive on love. As for the third question, I couldn’t possibly pick one single day, because there have been so many special days in my life. Glad you got your boiler fixed. It’s frigid here today. I would hate to think of anyone being cold. Liz

  2. ¬ The longest wait was the 2 years at college I waited for my now ex to say yes to dinner. It was worth it… well until we went our separate ways.¬ In today’s world, it appears the best things in life are the costliest, but you can’t buy love, well not true love anyway.¬ I have many regrets & if I really had the option I’d go back & for instance effectively better use my time I wasted procrastinating while my peers wheezed past me. However mistakes build character so I’m not too despondent with the cards I was dealt. 🙂

    Hi Gail,
Do I have to admit that I remember the Jackie Gleason Show?
I do have to admit that in my younger days I would offer cash to people to cut to the front of line. I would never do that now but money always seems to talk.
Yep, the best gift of all is free.
I wouldn’t change a thing in my life. If I did I would not be who I am right now and everyone I came in contact with would be different too.
You all be well and I was thinking about your son last night. How is he?
    Stay warm,

  4. Longest line? – For the first Harry Potter movie at the Uptown Theatre so we could get front-row balcony seats.
Best things in life/free? – Yes, lying in the grass in your backyard with your kids looking up at the sky making shapes out of the clouds.
Relive a day? – August 15, 2004 – Hubby, kids, Daddy and I were in Paris, France. Hubby, Daddy and I were sitting at the model boat pond in the Tuilleries outside the Louvre watching the kids play with the toy boats on a warm summer afternoon. (See above)

  5. I do recall Jackie Gleason … and don’t worry G I have another 2 years before the big 5-0!

What’s the longest you’ve ever waited in line? The first year I got season tickets for my hockey team I arrived at 7am for the doors to open at 9am – and I was number 27 in line! I think I was finally done about 10am.
It’s been said that, "The best things in life are free." Do you think this is true? Why or why not? Absolutely – there is no financial cost to good friends! If you could go back in time and re-live one day in your life, which day would you choose and why? Wow – I don‘t know that I would re-live any days. There have been a few that were less than stellar but all those experiences made me the person I am today.

  6. Hey G, just wondering if you know why Carol Lu’s suddenly shut her facebook and msn blog space? I don’t have her contact.
Anyway, longest wait??? ahhh….. it has to be when I was on the bus to Grand Canyon….and I REALLY REALLY REALLY had to go to the toilet. We were about 10 mins away when the bus got stopped for speeding…. and oooohhhh that REALLY was the longest wait! I could’ve burst. Don’t have to tell you the rest of the story. haha..

  7. I waited in line at Epcot Center for the new ride Soarin in Disney recently for almost 2 hours.  I was worth it I guess considering it was the first ride we rode when we got there.  For the rest of the week we utilized the fast pass system though.
Thank goodness salvation is free because I am so totally broke and would not be able to afford it otherwise.
I woudn’t want to relive anything either.
How is the boy doing? I think about him often.

  8. I wish I knew what my body fat was. My scale says 23% but people tell me they know it has to be below 20. I hope it is! lol Thanks for the compliment! I haven’t taken the pictures yet. Feb 2 is the date. I need to talk to him and confirm the appointment.

  9. The longest line seems to be which ever one I choose at Wal-Mart.
It’s a paradox that Jesus gives us the free gift of salvation, but it cost Him everything.
I think I’d go for my wedding day.  I can still remember the thrill of seeing Kay start down the aisle.  The ceremony lasted over an hour with fun stuff like the bride singing three songs.

  10. G – I didn’t know you were such a football fan – look what I learn!!
I don’t recall Jackie Gleason’s show but I do love The Honeymooners.  To the moon Alice!!
Also curious if anyone knows that happened to Carol??? I sent her a message and have not heard back….
Anyhoo…. waiting in line?  It would probably be at Disneyland as well.
Best things in life that are free:  Hugs and kisses from my kids.
Relive a day in my life: my wedding day to Michael.  So I can go back and relax and enjoy it instead of being caught up in the details.
I hope you have a great week.  Also, thining of your son.
    Take care,
