Blessed Quiet

My boys are going away overnight and I am looking forward to some blessed quietRainbow, maybe some time spent with a friendMSN Messenger icon and/or some much coveted solitudeGirl.

As I can’t think of a single thing to talk about, let’s feast:

Appetizer
What is your favorite beverage?  "That’s some mighty fine H2O."  I agree with Adam Sandler’s character in The Waterboy.  Water.

Soup
Name 3 things that are on your computer desk at home or work.  Bottle of Red Yeast Rice (trying to find the same brand as Costco doesn’t seem to carry it any more),  The Boy’s headphones, mechanical pencil.  This is to name just a few of the many things in this cluttered mess.

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how honest do you think you are?  9.5  Leaving a bit of room for things I am not consciously aware of and sins of omission.  I really do try.

Main Course
If you could change the name of one city in the world, what would you rename it and why?  Ho Chi Minh City to Freedom City.  (I am not very creative today.)

Dessert
What stresses you out? What calms you down?  People saying the same thing three different ways in one breath – as if I didn’t get it the first time.  Calming?  A nap and or valium Wink.

This no calorie meal has been brought to you by http://fridaysfeast.com/.  Thanks, Tickled Peach.

Have a wonderful weekend and don’t be a stranger, okay?

Oh, one more thing;  in your part of the country/world, do you ever say, "Hey," as a greeting?  It is quite common here.  If not, what is your informal greeting?

Blessings to all, g

  1. Too bad we only have the occasional day to relax.  Although retired, my time seems to have taken on an entire new volume of daily consumption, but most likely it’s because this old boy has found out he doesn’t have the 25 year old body any more, and just warming up in the mornings is full of moans, groans and crackling bones!!  Not quite the life of leisure I envisioned when accepting retirement, but hopefully the wife and I still have one more good vacation in our future.  I’ve seen your part of our nation and have many fond memories as a result, however, Alaskan wilderness is the dream trip for me but Patty won’t budge….sigh!!  Tried to convince her there were wonderful shopping malls in the Tundra (must have been dreaming), and besides, she just jumps for joy at the prospect of meeting wolves and grizzly bears face to face..I’m doomed G.  Well, there must be a desk here somewhere, but it’s so cluttered that I mainly see the 2 color printers and the scanner. The honesty scale depends on the person and the question asked, but I’ll have to say 9 1/2 unless it happens to be someone trying to sell me something.  I lie like a dog to them most of the time.  Can’t possibly list all the people that stress me to the max, but liars, double standards, Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Dick Cheney, George W. Bush, Tom Cruise and money hungry spiritual frauds rank near the top. Oops…almost forgot fair weather friends and diplomats with immunity. To be perfectly honest, most of my stress is self-inflicted.  Since naps usually result in weird dreams, they don’t calm me in the least, but a long quiet walk in the mountains or listening to a soft rain are my drug of choice.  Yes, we say "hey" here in hillbilly land…among other x-rated greetings under our breath.  That also depends on who we happen to meet and where we meet them!
As usual, you have made this an enjoyable experience.  Thank God for friends like you.  Ya’ll drive between the ditches and don’t let good road kill go to waste.  Raccoons and possums are a bit greasy, but nothing some salt and a shot of moonshine won’t fix…..yep, I’m 95% kidding.

  2. great idea…have a relaxing bath for me…
    *~* :o) if you do not have a smile today… :o) I will give you one of mine… :o) *~*

  3. Appetizer – What is your favorite beverage?  The only answer you should expect from a Southerner – sweet tea!
Soup – Name 3 things that are on your computer desk at home or work.  It might be easier to name three things that are not on my desk.  Clothes washer, refrigerator, and bath tub.
Salad – On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how honest do you think you are?  Nine plus some, shoot, I feel bad when I find coin of greater value than a penny.  I feel the nickel, dime, quarter should be returned to it’s owner.
Main Course – If you could change the name of one city in the world, what would you rename it and why?  Oil Trough, Arkansas would become Pig Trough, Arkansas.  Don’t ask me why, it’s just the first thing that came to mind.
Dessert – What stresses you out? What calms you down?  Work.  I’m stressed when I’m working for The Company, but I’m de-stressing when I’m working for me (think tinkering about with woodworking in my shop).
    Greeting – "Hey now"
    Go for the relaxing thing!

  5. Hi Gail — Enjoy your weekend of solitude.  I could sure use one myself.
AppetizerWhat is your favorite beverage?  Snapple Green Tea – I like all three flavors, Original, Asian Pear or Green Apple.
SoupName 3 things that are on your computer desk at home or work.  Since I’m home I’ll do this desk.  Better Homes and Garden’s magazine, my coffee cup and a stack of papers I’ll sort through someday.
SaladOn a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how honest do you think you are?  Hmmm  maybe an 8.  I often don’t tell people when I am angry at them.  Or on occsaion I might fib to spare somone’s feelings.  But on most other things, I am pretty straightforward.
Main CourseIf you could change the name of one city in the world, what would you rename it and why?  Schenectady NY to something easier to spell over the phone.
DessertWhat stresses you out? What calms you down?  Paying bills on our income.  A cold Budlight and an afternoon in the sunshine.  Not much of that around lately.  Sunshine I mean.
I’m rooting for the Chargers – yes I know it’s a longshot, but hey – ya never know.  I’ve been a Charger fan for many years and they are up for a turn.  😮 )

  6. I’m tired but just wanted to leave a comment to say hello….did you enjoy snow earlier this week?  We got 5 inches on Thursday.

Oh I will answer the greeting.  I say "Hey" sometimes.  Also in Hawaii, they say "Howzit".

Hope you are having a great weekend!

  7. Hey G, 🙂
so how was your quiet time with the boys away? must have been refreshing and relaxing and wonderful. 🙂 Mine was a very busy weekend with birthdays and weddings. I’m also back to the music  ministry now and that was nice. 🙂
AppetizerWhat is your favorite beverage?  It has to be water, or Cranberry juice.
SoupName 3 things that are on your computer desk at home or work.  children’s jigsaw, children’s CD rom, my photo album. 🙂
SaladOn a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how honest do you think you are?  I’d say about 9. there are times, I tell a littttllleee white lie. like, Jo, eat your meal or the lizard is gonna come down to eat your rice!
Main CourseIf you could change the name of one city in the world, what would you rename it and why?  change the name of a city? ….it’d be one of the cities in M’sia…which used to have English names (named by the British themselves) but have since been changed to Malay. I would love to revert to the old names to preserve history.
DessertWhat stresses you out? What calms you down?  stresses me out? my children’s screaming (when fighting or in tantrum). Calms me down? when daddy takes them out… or a bit of chocolate. haha…
Praying you have a beautiful week. 🙂
    hugs

SaladOn a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how honest do you think you are?
Ha! Honesty is what puts me in trouble in all the ways possible. So over the years I have learnt to juggle…….but it is not enough…..a good 8 ….. but I know I should be nine! That’s why I get angry with all the people who lie like they breath, or people who steal,….. but hey shamefully it’s planet earth we live on!
Main CourseIf you could change the name of one city in the world, what would you rename it and why? I don’t have the slightest idea.
