I have been reading the obituaries for as long as I can remember. Yesterday, one in particular caught my eye. The man was only 52 years old. For my friends who are not from this hemisphere, I explain that it is customary, for those who can afford it, to send a sizable floral arrangement to the funeral home.
In the last decade or so, it has also become common for some to ask that in lieu (instead) of flowers, a donation be made to either an organization such as the American Cancer Society or to a hospice or a church.
Back to the obituary from yesterday, it read, "In lieu of flowers, go and enjoy life. It’s too short." A family who has just lost a 52 year old would know that all too well. I don’t know the cause of his death but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was sick for a long time and thought of those words himself.
Let’s learn from these wise words and try not to be negative. Negativity has been part of me for most of my life and I have been working on having a joyful life. Know what? It makes going through my day so much easier! Isabella’s birth showed me how much better joy is than sorrow and negativity.
Try it. You’ll like it.
How many times per day do you usually laugh? On the days I have Isabella, many, many times. As I mentioned before, she gives me such joy that I can’t help but laugh! Other days, depends on alot of factors. However, around certain groups of people, like my side of the family, I tend to laugh loudly and often. Hooray! I get to see them tomorrow!
What do your sunglasses look like? hmmm…I don’t want to tell you. Oh, okay. I need prescription sunglasses so they are a bit out of style because I won’t get new frames – too expensive. Let’s just say they aren’t huge but they aren’t small either. I like to have plenty of coverage to avoid glaucoma.
You win a free trip to anywhere on your continent, but you have to travel by train. Where do you go? Ugh. The only thing I dislike worse than trains is planes. However, I think I would travel through New England and maybe up to Canada to take a Maritime Province cruise.
Name one thing you consider a great quality about living in your town/city. The number of programs geared towards youth. I know that many parents over do the after school activies but it is good to know there are different interests addressed than just sports and school extracurriculars.. We have story and play time at the library twice a week for toddlers and one for pre-schoolers. There are art courses on a Saturday and even one for age three and up! Many more, too.
If the sky could be another color, what color do you think would look best? Why mess with perfection?
This week’s questions were interesting, eh? Once again, thank you, Susie.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone. blessings, g
