Blessings

Count your blessings; name them one by one
Count your blessings; see what God has done
Count your blessings
Name them one by one
Count your many blessings see what God has done

I am sitting here thinking of how all of you have impacted my life.  Although I have only met one of you face to face (my beloved Lolliemouse), you have each blessed my life in one way or another.

During life’s trials, I know that there are people from the Great Atlantic Northeast to the Pacific Northwest to Malaysia and England and Canada and Chile and all over the United States as well as the UAE looking out for me.  Through positive thoughts and prayer I know that my family and I are cared for.

Enough mush.  Please just know that I appreciate you and think of all of you often.

:
What’s your favorite thing to spend money on?  My children and my granddaughter.  How many of you moms have gone without clothing you needed because you saw an outfit that was just perfect for your child(ren)!

If you could retire tomorrow what would you do?  Finish my master’s.  Actually, start another one because I have lost interest in the first one.

Should anything be censored and if so, what and why?  This is a very hard question to answer.  I live in a country that was built on an individual’s freedoms such as the freedom of speech.  However, when another person’s freedom turns into a plague, such as pornography, especially child porn., a line needs to be drawn.  However, once you draw the line on one thing what’s to stop lines being drawn on respectable things?  There will always be someone waiting in the wings to stretch our freedoms to the heinous.

I could go on and on about this topic but will stop here.  I heard that collective sigh!

Have a great week,  gail

  1. Gail, I count you as one of the many MSN friends that I am blessed to know.  Each person in my world, MSN or live, brings something different into my life and the mix somehow makes my life complete.

What’s your favorite thing to spend money on? Stuff that makes other people smile. That could be anything from flowers for my Dad to a pair of silly boxer shorts for a friend that is feeling blue.
If you could retire tomorrow what would you do? Travel. I would love to drive across Canada in a motor home type vehicle and just go where the road takes me, stopping at whatever sites catch my eye.
Should anything be censored and if so, what and why? This is a very hard question to answer. I agree that with some things, like child porn., a line needs to be drawn. However, once you draw the line on one thing what’s to stop lines being drawn on other things?

  2. What’s your favorite thing to spend money on? Most definitely books- I have entirely too many 🙂
If you could retire tomorrow what would you do? Travel, take classes for fun (like painting, yoga, cooking), & get a dog (no one is home enough now)
Should anything be censored and if so, what and why? I agree with you- it’s a tough line to draw; I want pornography & racist garbage to disappear, but everything is subject to interpretation- bare ankles or wearing a "Kiss me, I’m Irish" button could be twisted up .

  3. I like spending money on art/craft items for my children. i am especially partial to colouring books and crayola products LOL

Hope you are doing great! And thank you for the reminder to count all my blessings.
    Have a great week!

  4. Hi Gail — I’m with you, I so dearly care about the friends I’ve made here.  And I have Bells in my prayers as well.  Please keep us all posted on her progress.

I think I’ve come out of my yearly winter hibernation.  I try so hard every winter to stay active and alive during the cold months, but somehow I always get stuck down in the dumps.  Knowing that it’s temporary for me helps, but it still annoys me.
I’m a day late but want to do the Manic Monday anyway…

What’s your favorite thing to spend money on?  Gosh – that’s a hard one….I love books, can never leave a store without something for grandson Eric, and love browing for new things for the house.  Can I have 3 favorites?
If you could retire tomorrow what would you do?  I would buy a small cottage type dwelling within walking distance to the beach (preferably out my front door) in a sunny warm place that never has winter.
Should anything be censored and if so, what and why?  Yep, one hard question.  Sometimes I am watching tv and commercials and find myself telling hubby "my mom would be so shocked at what’s on the commercials nowadays"….and she would.  She passed away in 1971.  There is the "freedom of speech" angle, but honestly, sometimes I wish people weren’t so free with their speech and such.  Some things are just meant to be kept private.  Ha — ok I’ll shut up on that now.

Rememeber to keep us posted on Bell…

  5. Nice poem. Speaking of censorship, the only people who have true freedom of the press are those who own the presses.

  6. Love the song.  Has been a favorite for years.
What’s your favorite thing to spend money on?  Books, missions, meeting needs
If you could retire tomorrow what would you do?  Full time marriage counseling.
Should anything be censored and if so, what and why?  All porn – as it is demeaning and degrading in my opinion.  What actually bothers me more is the things which are censored at this moment.  Try to find a unabridged copy of Uncle Remus in a public school library (it can be hard to find in a public library).  If you share your faith at work, you can lose your job.  If a pastor supports a particular political candidate, the church can lose its tax exempt status.  If I use a scriptural term to describe a homosexual, I can be charged with a “hate crime”.  Anyone want to say the word bomb or explosive in an airport nowadays?  And list goes on.  The freedoms we’ve already lost, due to censorship, are what I worry about more.

  7. Some day I’ll do the quiz.  Just don’t have the oomph yet. Don’t think that I’m ignoring you, I’ve been having quite a few bad days in a row.

Glad to hear that Bells is OK.

I’m going to be a grandma again, The Princess’s mom is expecting again.

When I have something interesting and positive to blog about, I’ll get back to it again.

    Take care~
    xoxo

  8. I’m certainly no saint, but I’d rather spend my money on good people who need the bare necessities of life.
Since I’m already retired, I suppose a good, long mission trip to China would be my ultimate to-do thing.
A great deal of TV should be censored because of the double standard it portrays.  There are a few political figures that need either a bar of soap or a sock in their mouth for reasons that are obvious to any moral person.  Actually Gail, I could write a book on the things I would personally like censored, but it would surely be in vain.
BTW, those of us privileged to know you via this Internet domain are equally blessed to call you friend, and a trusted one at that!  Hard to beat a kind woman who is full of faith which begets compassion, and love which is to ultimate product of faith.  May you always stay grounded in that solid rock of humility.
