Insomnia Entry

As I am having a hard time sleeping tonight, I thought I’d catch up here.

The orthopod said I have frozen shoulder.  He gave me a cortisone injection and asked how it felt.  I told him it hurt!  When he said it shouldn’t because he used numbing agent, I wanted to tell him to, "..give me a three inch needle with numbing age and let me dig it into your shoulder like you did mine and we will see if it hurts you, you idiot!"Baring teeth  Sometimes doctors really get to me.  Next is physical therapy.  Ouch.Disappointed

Have you ever seen an older movie called The Doctor with William Hurt?  It is about a doctor who becomes a patient and has his eyes opened – wide!  I think it would be a good idea for doctors in training who have chosen a specialty to have to spend a few days and nights in a hospital room getting tests related to their specialty and seeing what it feels like from that end.  Are we in agreement?  Let me hear an amen!  Phew.  I sure am glad to get that out!Tongue out

I’m going to try to sleep now.  The sun is rising and the morning shows are starting. heavy sigh

Have a great Thursday.  g

  1. Yep, seen the movie and agree totally with you.  That is exactly why when I chose a new family doctor for myself. I chose one with small hands.  Prostrate exams are not man’s friend!!  Kind of reminds me of the time I had all my ribs broken and the doctor in ICU wanted me to cough for him.  He was a lucky man because they had me strapped in the bed…grrrrrrr.  Bet you can’t wait for your next mammogram…nothing quite like having certain body parts crushed and probed….I feel your pain my friend.  BTW, the physical therapy is well worth it.  Patty said it helped her greatly.  You deserve a break.  Just remember….revenge is best NOT served, but sure is fun to scheme about…sleep tight.

  2. I asked my doctor if he wanted me to show him how his treatments felt – – he declined the offer before I was finished talking! Such a coward . . .

Insomnia is something I’ve been living with for several years now, too. You do have my complete sympathy. Living every day in a fog of exhaustion is – well – exhausting.

Good luck with the physical therapy. It won’t always be easy, but having the use of your shoulder again is worth working towards. My prayers are with you.

  3. i had a shot like that once in the base of my neck where my head attaches for a knot that was causing me pain…it hurt so bad but felt so good at the same time…it was weird…♥~♥ :oD the shortest distance between two people is a smile… :oD ♥~♥

  4. I like JW’s comment. Revenge is best not served, but sure fun to scheme about! Perfect Christian attitude!! LOL Thanks, JW, I may steal that!
I hear you about the doctors. I like going to ones that actually have been through some things. Some of the tests I’ve had, I’ve wondered how in the world some of these 80 year old heart patients survive them!! I’ve never been able to convince myself that I can survive those shots in the joints… I’m sure they would help, but huh-uh!!! I’ll warn you now, you’ll want to hit your physical therapist, too.. but it really is in your best interests to do it. Bells isn’t likely to get any smaller and easier to pick up!!LOL Just remember icing joints does help with pain and inflammation, and frozen peas makes a GREAT ice pack that will curve around a joint! 🙂
Thanks for sticking with me til I got my baby back out of the puter hospital!

I can do ALL THINGS in Christ Jesus … even PT.

  5. Been there- I got a cortisone shot in my heel 6 months ago; nearly kicked the doctor’s teeth in (purely reflex, I promise :-P)
No real recipe for the pancakes- I use Bis*quik recipe, substitute molasses for 1/3 of the liquid, & add up to 1 tsp ground ginger, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp of cloves &/or nutmeg, depending on how big a batch I’m making.
You can top them with maple syrup, honey, carmel sauce, or whipped cream.

  6. Hey G, does the jab help? has it reduced your pain significantly? Just asking, coz doc recommended the jab, but too chicken to try it. So wonder if it’s worth it. Let me know eh? Hope you get good sleep tonite. 🙂
    Take care!
    hugs
