Fear I’m Failing Falderal

I hate not keeping up with the falderal.  By the time Friday rolls around, I am beat.  I’m trying!

Around here, life is rarely boring.  We may not be the most active family but our lives are full.  My calendar used to have a lot of empty spaces but they are filling up quickly these days.

We need to be careful, though, of busyness.  We were reminded in this morning’s sermon that busyness can keep us from the truly important things in life like spending time with God and reading his word.

Busyness takes form in many ways.  Those with young families find themselves running the children to this, that and the other thing after having a full day working at home or on site.  Watching a lot of tv, my vice, keeps me "busy" when there is much else I can be doing.  Fantasy football keeps my son glued to the tv and his laptop all Sunday.  Web browsing, texting, shopping; all ways to keep busy.

What’s keeping you busy today?  My busyness today in particular was taking a nap!  I am here on my netbook and football is on.

Do you allow too much busyness in your life?  Allow?  When it comes to tv and the computer, yes.  Taking care of Isabella as much as I do is a blessing but not something I "choose" to do.  It would be nice to have some options.

Do you "get" fantasy football?  I just explained what I think it is to my son and he said I was right.  Yea me!

What would you like to be busier doing?  Reading scripture and spending time with God; fruitful time with God.  This has taken such a back seat to tv and the computer and it is time to get right again.

What can you give up or cut back on to reach the goal in the last question?  I have a habit of turning on the tv shortly after I wake up to see what is going on in the world.  That can wait.

How are you?  I hope and pray that all is well with and yours.  Drop me a comment and let me know, okay?  g

  1. What’s keeping you busy today? Making potato soup and pumpkin bread to take to a friend who was just discharged after an apendectomy. Then taking it to her and visiting. Do you allow too much busyness in your life? I’m became more aware of it and have learned to make time for the important things. Do you "get" fantasy football? No. What would you like to be busier doing? I agree with you Gail. I am reminded after these inspiring conferences/retreats what’s really important. And that God should not be put on the back burner. What can you give up or cut back on to reach the goal in the last question? TV and internetDoing great…..thanks for the comment, Gail. Time just seems to fly by anymore. Next weekend is a 3 day weekend for me…..looking forward to it.

  2. Don’t feel bad, I don’t seen to doing half of what I used to be able to. It’s not that I’m feeling bad, I just don’t have the energy right now.I’m still trying to figure out how I used to work an unbelievable amount of hours while I was in Germany, read the paper every day (it was the stars and stripes which is not a particularly large paper) and still had time to press my uniform and shine my boots on a daily basis. Now what I want to read an article or from my book, I just don’t seem to get hardly anything done. And I have quite a bit more time normally.Lately I’ve been watching a lot more television shows. Every now and then I get motivated, but when I get into my office/study it quickly evaporates.Take care and don’t be too hard on yourself. If your life is fulfilling to you, that’s what’s important.

  3. With all our advances in communication, i.e internet, cell, I continue to keep my little life simple right down to drect deposit and yet I am here today needing a face to face meeting with my bank and am way overdue in a visit to my friend, Rich, at Embassy House. My mother use to quote that movie title "Stop the world. I want to get off."

  4. Hi g…I’m doing ok — I see you are too. Missin my little man tonight. He went to the Apple Orchard with his mom and dad today. Nik stopped by work to show me the pictures. Hopefully she will put them on the computer so I can "steal" them and put them here. Sorry I’m late for the Falderal — and please don’t feel too bad if you don’t get to it. I don’t need falderal to visit you! What’s keeping you busy today? Most days are taken up by my job. But otherwise I would have to say helping Nik care for my little guy. But with summer over and most of the outdoor activities done, things are starting to slow a bit. Do you allow too much busyness in your life? Yes, sometimes. I really would enjoy a Saturday to myself, but knowing that Nik needs me I keep quiet about it. I guess at this junction in my life, I do like being needed. That might change someday, but for now it eases my heart to know I am needed. Do you "get" fantasy football? My son Kevin plays it. I think it’s something about picking who you think would make the perfect team — players from any team can go on your "fantasy team". Am I right? What would you like to be busier doing? I would love to travel more. You know I could probably find the time to do just that, but finances are the problem with that wish. What can you give up or cut back on to reach the goal in the last question? I’d have to give up paying bills and eating. LOL! Honestly, it’s not the time I lack.Have a great evening g — talk to you soon!Deb
